IPMS Guayaquil was
created by scale modeling enthusiasts, mainly from
Guayaquil, Ecuador, but also include members from other cities
and countries. |
|
The story
begins in 1985, when a group of friends and scale modeling
enthusiasts decided to get together in periodical meetings
to exchange experiences, techniques or simply to have a good
conversation about the hobby that a few individuals had for
some ago. This first group was self called "Squadron 505"
and their first meetings were every Monday at Infinity
Discotheque, owned by our member Andres Chiriboga, and that
was closed that day of the week. |
|
With months
passing by, the group was growing as the voice was spread
about our activities. Slowly, new followers were joining the
group. It was not until July 13th 1987 that our first mass
meeting was held giving birth to the first and only IPMS
Ecuador, as the first Ecuadorian chapter under the
alignments of the International Plastic Modelers Society
(IPMS) in the U.K. |
|
Regretfully,
this was going to last only a few years, since under unknown
circumstances, our file and documentation posted at Ministerio de Bienestar Social was missing and another IPMS
Ecuador, based in Quito, was registered instead, by other
people not belonging to our group. |
|
Finally,
same old guys and enthusiast who originally founded IPMS
Ecuador, decided once more to create in Guayaquil a new
organization, stronger and totally renewed by excellent new
members, named IPMS Guayaquil. |
|
Our organization is based in a members oriented
structure grouping all active members. From here, our
Board President is elected for a one year period. There
are also committees for most important activities and
control. To know our Board Members, please click
