So Many Choices

March 16th, 2010 by admin

So you have planned your trip to London and you know what sights you want to see and what type of entertainment you are looking for, but you haven’t decided on a hotel.   There are so many hotels in London that choosing one is pretty much the same as choosing in any major city.   Most of us want something close to the airport or close to the area in the city where we will be spending most of our time.   That narrows it down a bit but still not enough to make the choice easy.

Before the internet, budget was a major factor that needed to be considered.   Most of us would choose London hotels based on what we could afford.   The internet has changed what is affordable.   There are price comparison and hotel sites that offer 3 and 4 star hotel rooms at 2 and 3 star rates.

If we were looking for a London hotels near Paddington Station, we could do a search for 4 star hotels in the area and find the Colonnade Hotel, Hotel Henry VIII, Grand Plaza Bayswater, and the Lancaster London Hotel.    The next step in the process would be to read up on some of the reviews on those hotels and look at the room rates.  If you stop there and choose one of those hotels you will most likely get the worst rate possible.    You can go to hotels.com or expedia.com or cheaphotels.com and then do a search for those specific hotels or all 3 and 4 star hotels in the area.  Between those sites you should be able to find a much better rate.

That’s one way of doing it.  London is a very old city and you should not overlook 2 and 3 star hotels in your search for a place to stay.   Some of the smaller hotels with less amenities can actually be amazing places to stay, but that requires a little more research.  In order to find one of these gems you will need to search the same area for all hotels but this time you will need to look into reviews on each of the hotels.   It takes a little more research but you will save money and might just have a very unique experience.
