On
Sunday February 12, 2006 Guayaquil saw an aerobatic show
of the "Escuadrilha da Fumaça",
Brazilian Air Force Aerobatic Team, as part of FAE's
celebration of Air Combat Day. The Scenario was the
Guayas river in front of Malecon 2000 riverwalk.
Spectators filled every space available at the west bank
of the river. The show began with several flybys of FAE
combat aircrafts, recreating combat maneuvers in the Cenepa War on February 10, 1995. It was very impressive
to see the new Kfir CE's (did not participate in the
conflict) and Mirage F.1JA who shot down two Peruvian
Su-22's. Also marked the appearance in a show of the
surviving Mirage F.1JB trainer. |

Formations of A-37B Dragonfly, Strikemaster Mk.89 and
T-34C Turbo Mentor follow in the program. Three
TH-57A helicopters from 22nd Air Wing performed a rescue
drill on the river. |

Finally,
the awaited part of the show began with seven Tucanos in
a low pass on the river, coming from the north
practically unnoticed by spectators until they passed
roaring over their heads. After two individual passes of
each aircraft, greeting the audience, the show began
with stunning performances of the team for more than an
hour of exhilarating manouvers. |
