Our
XXI National Contest was held on Saturday 21st and
Sunday 22nd October 2006, as part of the Air Festival
2006 organized by the Ecuadorian Air Force to
commemorate their 86th Anniversary of establishment.
Like other years, this event was extensively promoted
with the media and El Universo daily news made a special
report on our organization and this event, for their
La Revista
weekly magazine,
released last 1st of October and can also be seen on
Internet. Many modelers registered their models, willing
to participate in the contest and other modelers
facilitated their models for a unique exhibition that
delighted kids and grown ups. There was a massive
participation of expectators from Guayaquil and other
regions from the interior, who motivated by the Air
Festival
and the prestige of our

contests,
came to witness the skills of our modeleres.
Additionally to our regular members, we had the presence
of Manuel Dominguez from Bogota, Colombia and Eduardo
Cardenas from Lima, Peru. |
|
In the
contest, the largest representation was aviation, with 4
models, followed by military models with 19, including 5
magnificent dioramas. Finally there were 3 naval models
and just one model car. In total, there were 68 models
in 27 categories. This year, our subject for the contest wa Latin America. |
|
As a
curious thing and for the first time in our contests
history, we had two model with same amount of votes in
the public's favorite contest. This time Juan A. Jurado's Royal Sovereign and
Carlos Macias' Budapest 1945 diorama were equaly voted
by the visitors. Two awards were given. |
|
With registration period
finished on Saturday, the judges had the difficult task
of judging the models and those included below received
their awards from Jimmy Galvez as IPMS Guayaquil's
President and Crnl. Zanoni Garcia as Chief Commander of FAE's 22 Wing. |
|
At the end of the event
Alfredo Jurado, who won the Best Ecuadorian Model in the
FAE awards, donated his winning model to Crnl. Garcia
for a 20 years old friendship. Must be mentioned that Crnl. Garcia flew the type of
the depicted aircraft. |
